The 8th of May this year sees the 75th anniversary of the end of the war in Europe. I know that the commemoration can be seen as divisive as it can be viewed as celebrating war and basking in ensuing glory. For me, it commemorates the immense sacrifices that so many people made including my family members. Also, it commemorates the end of the evil Nazism that caused so much havoc and tragedy throughout Europe, throughout the world during those dreadful years.
So I hope you have enjoyed V.E Day and continue to do so over the weekend. I include a photograph of myself as my father who served in the Royal Navy throughout the conflict.
And also two of his ships, HMS Ajax and the HMS Belfast. . “Lest we forget.”
