Today the 8th of May sees the anniversary when Nazism was defeated in Europe. It is a day to both remember and celebrate. My mother was in London at the time and cycled from Hounslow with her friend, Tess to celebrate at Piccadilly Circus and then onto Buckingham Palace. Since that day there has been peace in Western Europe. However, I do have concerns. I was horrified and angered to see the headlines on tabloids on Friday morning regarding the Anglo-French fishing dispute at Jersey. The headlines were inflammatory, rebel rousing, and potentially very dangerous, as well as being inaccurate. My greatest concern with Brexit that incidents like this would erupt and burst the canker of misguided nationalism and false patriotism.
